P5 B

P5 – Learners plan the development of their own social media website, including b) Content
It is clear how the purpose of my new social media website is to promote the socialisation of those worldwide sharing the same interests, which are mainly to do with pets or animals. When new users first go on to the website, they are met with a ‘log in’ or ‘sign up’ page, whereby they are required to fill out their personal details in order to create their own profile. This is a quick process and provides users with their own log in and pass code which can be used whenever they are next going on to the site.
Once users have created a log in account, they are able to start designing their own personal profile, which consists of items such as a public display name and image, along with a brief ‘bio’ about yourself which other users are able to view. This allows people to see exactly who you are on the site for whether they wish to communicate with you or not.
Following the design and development of your personal profile, users are able to start posting and communicating with others online. First it is advised to ‘follow’ other profiles, in order to keep up with their posts on the site. Others will do the same with your account although if you do not wish for some of the public to view your posts, you can change the settings to ‘private’, meaning only friends, family and other followers are able to view them. A location setting is also displayed on each post although this is optional, so you can decide whether or not you want other online users to know your current location.
When sharing posts, the aim of the website is that it is relevant to the lifestyle of your pet(s), which is where each of the online users will share interest. Others will view these and will have the option to ‘like’ the post or comment their view. There is also the option to direct message through the site, which allows users to converse behind the public’s view.
If users ever feel that another is harassing them or displaying content which does not conform to the website’s rules, they will be able to ‘report’ or ‘block’ a user. This is a simple way of resolving any issues on the site and resolves and disputes which may occur.
