P4 B

P4  – Generate ideas for their own new social media website including b) Format/Style

When designing my new social media website, I have decided that the format/ style will consist of that similar to a social media site such as Instagram. This means that my chosen demographic are able to post photos, videos and information of their own which will be relevant to my websites theme. The aim of using my social media website is to interact with others online who have pets or animals of a similar type/ age and are willing to meet up and socialise. Therefore, my newly designed website is relevant to the theme of social media, as people are able to interact through sharing their own posts and information, as well as communicating through direct/instant messaging, (which is hidden from the public’s view).

My social media site will be available also as an app, which makes it easier for my target consumers to find, i.e. on the App Store. When joining the app/ webpage, the users will be asked to design their own account, making the experience through the site more personal to themselves as people can see exactly who they are and are able to identify those who they are socialising with. When designing their user profile page, consumers are given the option to set the app to show their current location, so that others online can see which area they are in, although this is a personal choice and is not ultimately required through the site.

One of the main parts of using my app is through sharing/ uploading user-created content. This involves their personal information becoming available to the public as to socialise and share posts of their own animals or pets. Friends and followers can view such content and are able to ‘like’ the post or comment their own personal view. This is relevant to the sharing of audio visual, videos, photos and text posts. Facilities for blogging are available through posting as a text, meaning followers can keep up with the daily or weekly posts from their chosen followers.
